I wouldn’t say that mankind always has had an unstoppable desire to write. I think the explanation lies in our desire to pass on information to the next generation. Human beings are by nature egoistical. We believe our thought and ideas is the most interesting and important ideas around the globe and therefore worth storing for generations to come. In former days the only possible ways of achieve this was to write. With the help of hammer and chisel people draw their words into the stone walls. Nowadays this work seems to have got much easier. With the help of a keyboard and magnetic storage it’s possible to store an enormous amount of our thoughts, ready to be read in the future. But honestly, who will ever care? Who will read all the documents and bloggs that we write? Even if someone actually wants to read our computer stored documents, will it be possible? Maybe an archaeologist will dig up a hard drive thousands years into the future. Sadly, no software exists any more to read the information. The software, the human brain, we used to interpret the stone drawings are useless in this case. All that is left is a rusty hard drive in an exhibition case, containing information that no one will be able to read. And no no! It won’t help to print all the stuff we want to keep. Toner and ink will fade with time and documents, pictures, thoughts and ideas will be lost forever. So all people out there, stop blogging and writing. Grab a hammer and a chisel (for the lazy ones, an angle grinder or an impact drill will do, remember the gas driven power station) and go out in the nature and make your mark to the future!

I really must say, this was amusing to read! I must also admit to the fact that I think you are right! All these attempts to leave something beind, maybe it´s all in vain!

This was a very interesting blog entry and truly you've got some great thoughts there. The text feels serious but still fun and amusing to read. I really enjoyed it.
(Ps. If this was my piece of work, I should try to put some empty lines in the text to make it easier to read... =))
